11 months agoMy parents have lived in their home for 20 years. Unfortunately, the original landlord sold the house to this company a few years ago. The rental agreement was grandfathered in.
On May 7, 2025, the new owner, Todd Miller, posted a google image of my parents house to his PERSONAL Facebook account saying he was selling his rental and that the “tenants can stay or go before closing” along with “do not disturb the tenants.” That last one was important because the tenants weren’t aware the house was being put for sale!
My parents (who at this point had NOT seen the Facebook post) were informed on the 7th that “the annual inspection” will be conducted soon but nothing about selling the house. The following day, my parents come home to 20+ people standing in the front yard and everyone quickly dispersed once these strangers realized my parents were the tenants. All closet doors were opened and rummaged through by the 20+ strangers. In hindsight, we now know these strangers were his Facebook investor friends that had showed interest about his Facebook post. My parents had not prepared the inside for people to view as they were lied to and told it would only be the annual inspection, where just Todd does a walk through. They felt extremely violated.
The next communication came solely from Todd Miller’s son, Hammy, as it seems Todd was too afraid to just be an honest man with my family. After the strangers left, Hammy stayed back to tell my parents to not worry about anything and that he would stay in constant communication. He also mentioned that their family real estate business is suffering so they’re having to sell some properties. Even still, ZERO word of possibly selling the house. The following day, the weekend of Mother’s Day, my brother comes home on his lunch break and sees the eviction notice on the door. After checking the front camera, Hammy came around 10:30am on May 9th when he knew everyone would be at work to tape the eviction notice to the door. That was their idea of “constant communication.” My mom called and left several voicemails to Todd and it was returned with absolute silence.
I had been working on a Mother’s Day painting for weeks for my mom and I can’t even give it to her because she doesn’t have a home to hang it in. 30 day notice to suddenly have to process packing up the house you’ve live in for 20 years and find another house in this economy after LYING to get his buddies to view the interior so he could get an offer and quickly evict my parents during Mother’s Day weekend is abhorrent. I don’t know how Todd Miller and his family sleep at night. A hell of a lot more comfortable than my parents, that’s for sure.
