This was our father’s home. He passed away suddenly from cancer, and as his children, we were trying to navigate the sale during an already emotional and difficult time. From the very beginning, we were upfront with the original company and clearly said we did not want any games or tactics. Just do what you say you’re going to do, and everything will be fine. As we got closer to closing, that company lowered their offer by a substantial amount and said they would not honor what was originally agreed to. That added stress and disappointment to a situation that was already heavy for our family. Then Trent Braden came along. He had a genuine conversation with us. He was calm, clear, and respectful. He made a fair offer and explained everything thoroughly. No pressure. No surprises. At that time, we were still under contract with the original company and had to wait for their final closing date to pass so they would no longer be in the running for the house. We were not going to close with the new offer. Once that date came and went, the agreement with them became null and void. Because we had already been jerked around once, our family would periodically call Trent during that waiting period just to make sure everything was still good to go. Every single time, he was polite and professional and reassured us that he was going to do exactly what we agreed to and close on the agreed date. Ironically, once the other company realized the contract had expired, they came back and offered substantially more money than Trent more then the first offer. As siblings, we sat down and talked it through. We unanimously chose to move forward with Trent anyway. Yes, we accepted substantially less money and we would make the same decision again. Integrity mattered more to us than squeezing out extra dollars and we did not want to be jerked around anymore. Trent was consistent from day one. He treated our father’s home and our family with respect. During a time when trust was fragile and emotions were high, that meant everything. So thankful and grateful for Lee & Mary at HomeVestors, who were the buyers to my childhood home, which was built in 1952 in Oklahoma City. I've been in Architecture and institutional, residential & commercial real estate since 1979 and have pretty much seen it or done it over the years. Due to a sudden and almost fatal family illness the fall of 2024, I was suddenly in charge of selling the house and conducted an open house to see who all showed up. It was easy enough to group everyone into three categories. My choice was the "smaller, local, and honest" category and HomeVestors were easily at the front of this group, and after some easy negotiations I signed a contract with HomeVestors in November 2024. There were a number of significant issues requiring multiple court orders, will probates, an estate probate for an out-of-state deceased family member, and a title company change mid stream, so this was not an easy one. Not to mention a courtroom offer during the sale order hearing where an buyers agent showed up and made a better offer - from the courtroom waiting area I telephoned Mary and she countered with a better offer and it was approved in court. Like I said, this one had it's share of traps at every twist and turn. Did I mention I am out of state and almost died in January 2025 from a sudden emergency illness and hospitalization? During all of the difficulties, I needed referrals from HomeVestors on additional legal and appraisal assistance, and they did an outstanding job recommending experts who produced under pressure and kept the sale on track. I'm thankful for HomeVestors because they never once waivered and were exceptionally patient and understanding from start to finish. Their comment for the last year was, "don't worry, these things happen, we've seen some weird things over the years, and we'll stick with you to the finish", and they certainly were! HomeVestors is owned and ran by seasoned pro's who understand the market and have the maturity to roll with the changes with an eye on the finish. We closed in late October so this was an almost year-long event and I couldn't be happier with the results as a result of HomeVestors. I just can't say enough good things about them. Thankful, grateful, and blessed!
